Poetry Friday: Original Poem, "Snowboard"

Snowboard
Slices down frozen hilltops,
Skates atop newborn snow,
Tells the ground below,
“It’s not spring yet.”

Stamps its footprint
at the end of the run
For good measure.

-- Jeni Bell

(Inspired by a photo of a snowboarder on Laura Salas posted Thursday for her weekly 15-word poetry challenge: http://laurasalas.livejournal.com)

Happy Friday! Happy writing!

Thank you! I was trying to focus on action words here, and I liked the little bit of sass that came out in the process. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I'm off to buy ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS tonight. :)

This feels just like a snowboard - bold and in charge. I love the bossy words to spring punctuated by that footprint stamp. It reminds me of our son when he's out there on our hill! A.

Thank you! It meant a lot to me that this poem "feels" real to you, given that your son enjoys snowboarding. (I can ski -- badly -- but have never snowboarded. It looks like so much fun.) Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you so much! This one was fun to write; Laura's photo made me wish I could snowboard. :) Have a Merry Christmas!

I can't wait to get back in the snow.
Great poem. Makes me wish that snow season would hurry!
