I am the author of short stories and articles for children and teens, both fiction and non-fiction, and write middle-grade novels as well; my work has been published in Guideposts for Kids, Guideposts for Teens, Sweet 16, Boys Life, Pockets, and Highlights for Children.

I am currently seeking representation for my middle-grade novel SINK OR SWIM: Twelve-year-old Emily Bartels has never been an athletic girl (in gym, she’s known as “the girl who gave herself two black eyes while doing a somersault”), so even she is surprised when she joins the swim team in an effort to get closer to her sportswriter father. But Emily gets more than she bargained for when she ends up on the Pee Wee team, swimming with the kindergarteners and first-graders.

I am also writing a YA novel and regularly write poetry, some of which is featured on this blog.

I may be reached at jeni at jenibell.com or on twitter at twitter dot jeniw.
